You weren’t born to be weighed down by poor health. You were born to share your gifts with the world. But when the stress of living int he 21st century starts to build, it is increasingly common to fall into patterns of imbalance. And when we remain in an imbalanced state, our internal balance pays the price.
Ayurveda, which means “the science or wisdom of life,” is an ancient medical system with roots in the base of the Himalayas. For over 5,000 years, it has offered us a holistic lens through which to view our Selves and our lives. Aimed at identifying the root of a problem and addressing the cause directly, Ayurveda focuses on eliminating not only the symptoms, but the original source of imbalance as well.
According to Ayurveda, each individual has a unique state of good health, called the prakriti, or natural constitution. Instead of assuming one baseline standard of balance, the science celebrates and acknowledges the importance of individual differences, using the understanding of each person’s natural constitution to support the wellness journey.
Ultimately, you were not sent here to battle with the health of your body, mind or spirit. When an Ayurvedic lifestyle is in place, you can spend less time on your health concerns and more time focusing on the gifts you were meant to share with the world.
In the 21st century, Ayurveda is compatible with Western medicine to provide an integrative healing plan. The Eastern and Western approaches to the human body can and should be used together to achieve the highest level of wellbeing.
